Presentation by Bestselling Author and Autism Advocate Dr. Temple Grandin

Dr. Temple Grandin, autism advocate and bestselling author, willl be speaking at Montclair State University on Thursday, September 26th.

Dr. Grandin will share details of her latest bestselling book, The Way I See It: A Personal Look at Autism and Asperger’sOther bestselling publications include Unwritten Rules of Social Relationships, Animals Make Us Human, and Emergence: Labeled Autistic. She presently works as a Professor of Animal Science at Colorado State University and speaks around the world on autism and cattle handling.

During her presentation, Dr. Grandin will share her story of how a mentor recognized her interests and abilities, despite being diagnosed with autism at a young age. Her fascinating life, with all its challenges and successes, has been captured in an HBO full-length film, Temple Grandin, starring Claire Danes, and has been featured on NPR and major television programs such as “The Today Show” and “Larry King Live”.

Dr. Grandin will speak in Memorial Auditorium beginning at 10 a.m. followed by a question & answer segment and a book signing beginning at 12 p.m. The event is FREE. Doors will open to the public at 9:30 a.m. and admission and seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

This program is sponsored by the College of Education and Human Services, the Center of Pedagogy, and the Center for Autism and Early Childhood Mental Health at Montclair State University, in partnership with the Newark Public Schools.
