Deborah Chatr Aryamontri and Timothy Renner will be giving an illustrated update on the ongoing excavation and cultural heritage project at the 2nd century CE imperial villa site in Genzano di Roma, Italy, 20 miles from the center of modern Rome. They will present an overview of the project, especially highlighting recent efforts to restore fragmentary frescoes.
In 2020 fieldwork had to be suspended because of the pandemic, however, the excavation will be resuming in the summer of 2023 with a student field school co-sponsored by MSU's International Academic Initiatives. All are welcome. Refreshments will be served.
