Deborah Perelmuter
Former Senior Vice President – Federal Reserve Bank of NY
Deborah A. Perelmuter spent nearly thirty years at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (“Bank”). She was most recently Senior Vice President and Senior Financial Stability Advisor in the Bank’s Research and Statistics Group. Ms. Perelmuter was responsible for advising internal executive leadership on monetary policy issues and operations, central banking functions and financial markets. She also actively provided the public with business context and perspective on the Bank’s missions, operations, leadership, and challenges.
Much of Ms. Perelmuter’s tenure was within the Bank’s Markets Group. Her expertise ranges from financial market and policy analysis and operations to managing external relationships at the highest levels. Her senior leadership positions in the Bank’s Markets Group included Head of all Treasury Market Businesses, co-Head of Capital Markets Analysis and Trading, Head of Foreign Exchange and Fixed Income. She also had executive responsibility for a major analytic and automation project building the Fed’s capacity as fiscal agent for the United States Treasury Department all while maintaining a role as Policy Adviser to the Head of the Markets Group.
Currently, Ms. Perelmuter speaks to university and business groups on economics, the Federal Reserve, and crisis management. She is also providing pro bono consulting to other central banks on operations and business processes.
Ms. Perelmuter holds a B.Sc. in Economics from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. in Finance from the Stern School, New York University.
