Frasca and Kerr Lead NJ Teachers in 3D Printing Workshop to Spark Student Creativity and Innovation
Posted in: Management
Jason Frasca and Iain Kerr of the Feliciano Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation are featured in this NJ Tech Weekly article about the recent 3D printing and innovation workshop they conducted for teachers. This workshop was offered to educators as an opportunity to enhance their understanding of the 3D printing process, from computer aided design (CAD) software to the final product, and to pass these skills onto students in the classroom. Frasca defines this as a tool to empower students with autonomy and agency through the ability to channel their creativity and innovation in their classwork.
Kerr taught basic design skills and gave the educators freedom to explore the software without any pressure of expectations. This introduction to the features and ability to experiment aids in muscle memory building, which can be expanded upon and eventually manifested into a class project for students. This independent approach is intended to foster creation and continuous learning simultaneously, proving that there is not only one right way to create a unique design.
