Cybersecurity Expert Addresses Recent WiFi Jamming Burglaries

Dr. Stanislav Mamonov, Associate Professor in the Information Management & Business Analytics department at Montclair State University, was recently interviewed by PIX11 local news about the recent uptick of burglaries related to WiFi jamming in Northern NJ. Dr. Mamonov indicated that it has become much easier and affordable to access this technology that interferes with wireless camera systems. Although these jammers are illegal, they can be found on the black market for under $1,000. He believes “these are the early warning signs of new types of attacks that are likely to occur with emerging technology.”
