SCM Photojournalism Students Cover Park Opening in Paterson with Mayor Sayegh

Students in Thomas Franklin’s photojournalism class took a field trip to Paterson on Tuesday to cover the grand opening of Jeanette Thompson Park, a reclamation project initiated by Mayor Andre Sayegh and the City of Paterson that transformed a once vacant lot and site of illicit activity into a family playground and amphitheater.
The park had previously been a blight on Paterson’s First Ward neighborhood. The mayor also provided students with a tour of the river walkway project at the Great Falls. The assignment offered students a hands-on educational experience in covering live events and issue reporting.
