The Creature Collective
An illustration and poetry collaboration
Posted in: College News and Announcements, Department of Art and Design News
The Department of Art & Design is excited to announce the opening of The Creature Collective, an illustration and poetry collaboration. This exhibition is in conjunction with the Animation and Illustration Thesis Exhibition. The exhibition of students’ work will be displayed in the Finley Gallery from May 15th through July 10th. This will be the last exhibition at Finley Gallery for the Spring semester.
Students in Professor Johnny Lorenz’s ENWR 212: Intro to Poetry class were asked to create a poem based on a mythological monster from various cultures. The poems were delivered anonymously to Professor Christina Rodriguez-Unalt’s ARIL 225: Art of the Visual Narrative course and asked to come up with an illustrative interpretation. Illustration students spent 6 weeks modeling, sculpting, and researching to articulate a dynamic illustration. This exhibit is the result of this mystifying collaboration. There will be a poetry reading during the opening reception which will take place on Monday, May 15th from 2pm-6pm. The poetry reading will take place at 3pm. The Finley Gallery will close after the show until July.
