Career Services Hosts Arts and Entertainment Job Fair to Connect Students with Local Employers
24 Registered Employers Mingle with over 340 Students and Alumni

On Wednesday March 23, students and employers filled the Student Center Ballrooms on campus for the Communication and Entertainment Career Fair in the hopes of matching vacant job and internship openings with hungry college students. The event, which was organized and sponsored by the College of the Arts Office of Career Services and the university’s Center for Career Services, is part of an ongoing commitment to helping students find easy transitions from college life to the professional work force.
The College of the Arts’ Director of Career Services, Gregory Costanzo explains, "The Arts, Communication and Entertainment Career Fair was planned as a small and intimate recruiting event but the end result was a big success that exceeded expectations. These industries and the companies that make them up aren’t always accessible to students seeking entry, so to have all 24 registered employers show up and over 340 students and alumni come out was great to see. People on both sides of the table walked away with something to gain, whether that was the promise of a job interview or a stack of resumes containing highly qualified candidates. I believe the event sent a strong message to employing organizations in the arts, communication and entertainment fields that Montclair State has some top notch talent that are eager to make their marks in the professional world."
In attendance was a diverse mix of companies from several industries including communications, photography, fashion and education.
Notable inclusions were Ashley Stewart, the famed NYC fashionista, who helped capture the hearts and minds of curvy women by offering inspiring boutique clothing — to Kleinfeld Bridal which offers the perfect wedding dress and is featured on TLC’s "Say Yes to the Dress."
A longtime employer and first-time fair attendee is Andy Foster. His photography business attracts students interested in expanding their experience in the visual arts.. "I began working with MSU in 1996 as Director of PSB Multimedia Solutions," says Foster. "I opened my own studio in 2004 and have sponsored more than 20 interns and subsequently hired many for both full-time and project work. The talent pool is extraordinary and I love the connection to a local University and the opportunity to give back. This is the first time I participated in the job fair and received dozens of promising resumes. It exceeded my expectations in every way."
Additional arts employers included Pearl Media, The Shakspeare Theatre of New Jersey, Tribe Pictures, HomeTowne Television, among others.
