The College of the Art’s Office of Education and Community Outreach and the Center for Cultural Engagement recently hosted a professional development workshop entitled: Abolitionist Showcase: Mobilizing Teachers to Address Human Trafficking in New Jersey.

The program was presented by the education committee of the NJ Coalition Against Human Trafficking and included updates on the coalition’s work, an FBI speaker, and two powerful presentations on successful abolitionist models: Project Stay Gold and Breaking the Chain through Education. The Office of Education and Community Outreach (OECO) develops community-based programs in multiple arts disciplines that serve children as well as young and older adults including university students.  Several programs are topic-specific and explore the arts in relation to other subject areas such as health. While some programs are by invitation, many are open to the general public.
