The Department of Art and Design and the Montclair Museum of Art Collaborate for Free First Thursday Nights Monthly Event

“Once Upon a Dream” by second-year MFA Studio Art student Juana Rodriguez.

The Montclair Art Museum and the Department of Art and Design will be joining forces to present the work of emerging artists from the MFA Studio Art program at Free First Thursday Nights at the Montclair Art Museum. This March, second-year student Juana Rodriguez will be an integral part of the evening’s events, where she will present and display her work Once Upon a Dream

Rodriguez’s sculpture and interactive painting project which is based on the theme of dream sharing, will act as a catalyst to encourage museum visitors to create their own miniature dream paintings, drawings, and writings, and attach their newly created work to her focal dream catcher sculpture. Culminating in a group dream collection, the piece will be a collaborative and responsive work of art, both created and enjoyed by the Montclair arts community.

Building on a long-standing relationship between Montclair State and one of Montclair’s premier institutions of art, this will be the first joint participation at the Free First Thursday Night events, taking place on March 3rd, from 5pm to 9pm. The monthly event which runs through October through June invites visitors to enjoy live music, tours and entertainment, offering food and drink and extended hours.

Continuing the collaboration in April, MFA Studio Art student Kasia Skorynkiewicz will present her work at this dynamic evening of interactive arts programming.
