Montclair State University’s School of Communication and Media (SCM) continued the tradition of recognizing top media professionals by honoring NBC 4 Chief Meteorologist Janice Huff with the 2015 Allen B. DuMont Broadcaster of the Year Award. Huff received the award at a Colloquium attended by SCM students, faculty and staff.

Huff told students about her career path, including the major impact of an internship in weather at a station in Tallahassee, Fl. when she was a student at Florida State University. In addition to Colloquium, Huff also discussed her career and current trends in meteorology with SCM Associate Professor Marc Rosenweig during a special edition of SCM’s weekly television program "Carpe Diem."

The DuMont award, first presented in 1982, has grown steadily in prestige.  WNBC-TV’s Bruce Beck was another recent honoree. The award is in recognition of Allen B.
