College of the Arts Holds Convocation Ceremony

Montclair State University’s College of the Arts held its Convocation ceremony on Sunday, May 18 at the University’s Sprague Field. Family and friends of many of the 529 candidates slated to receive baccalaureate degrees from the College filled the stands.
With College of the Arts Dean Daniel A. Gurskis presiding, the ceremony included greetings from President Susan A. Cole, the senior address delivered by Lin Kristensen and music performed by students from the John J. Cali School of Music.
College of the Arts and John J. Cali School of Music advisory board member, Mary Ellen Waggoner ’83, was honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award and delivered the keynote address. Also receiving special recognition was graduating senior James Conrad Smith who was presented with the Dean’s Scholar/Artist Award.
The candidates’ degrees will be conferred at the 2014 Commencement ceremony on Friday, May 23, at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
