College of the Arts Dance alumni Tim Kochka ’09 and Alex Williamson ’10 performed at the 2015 Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival as part of the Inside/Out Performances, a series held outdoors, with the Berkshires as a lush summer setting.

Jacob’s Pillow, a world-renowned center founded by modern dance pioneer Ted Shawn, is a 220-acre National Historic Landmark nestled in Western Massachusetts, and home to the nation’s longest running international dance festival. Thousands flock from around the globe to experience and participate at this venerable annual event.

“It was an amazing experience dancing at this historic venue. You could feel the energy in the air of all the amazing dancers that have graced the Jacob’s Pillow stage,” explained Kochka, who along with Williamson, are dancers with Darrah Carr Dance, the New York City based company which blends traditional Irish step and modern dance.

Both alumni who graduated from the BFA Dance program also began their dance educations early, both dancing at the Davis Academy of Irish Dance before studying together at Montclair State. Kochka has recently performed with Martha Graham II, Maxine Steinman and Dancers, and Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company, and is faculty at the Davis Academy of Dance. Williamson also dances with Moe-tion Dance Theater, Jessie DiMauro Dance Company, and Kristina Berger and Dancers, and is dance faculty at Union City College.
