The Department of Art and Design provides programs and opportunities designed to broaden your professional awareness and understanding of the field of art and design.
- Art Forum brings to campus distinguished artists, designers, critics and curators who speak to students about their own career paths and professions in the visual arts.
- Art and Design Student Organizations, such as the Art Educator’s Club and student-run Gallery 3-1/2 committee, provide opportunities for student collaboration and exhibiting their work.
- College of the Arts Career Services offers career guidance, help with résumés and assistance with finding internships.
- Exhibition Opportunities for students, faculty and outside professionals are available through the University’s George Segal Gallery, MFA Gallery and in New York’s gallery districts.
- Graduate Assistantships, which include tuition remission and stipend benefits, are available for qualified master’s degree candidates, providing work experiences related to their studies.
- Montclair State’s international programs for students provide global exposure and study-abroad opportunities.
- New York Galleries and Museums are just 30 minutes away by bus or train from campus.
- Visiting Artists’ Workshops bring well-known artists to campus to provide master studio workshops. Past artists have included notable artists such as painter Louisa Chase and photographer Ilse Bing.
