Montclair State University’s Department of Art & Design is thrilled to present the Spring 2024 Art Forum series. Art Forum is a speaker series featuring artists, designers, art historians, and art critics from around the world presenting their work and ideas in an open forum.
The first speaker of this amazing series is Professor Cathy Bebout. Cathy is a dedicated full-time Professor of 28 years and the head of Printmaking who has exhibited her multimedia works internationally. Cathy will be discussing her printmaking process and share insights into her latest animation work.
Cathy Bebout, a distinguished artist and professor, holds an MFA in Printmaking and Sculpture from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Since 1996, she has served as the Professor of Art, BA/BFA Director, and the Area Head of Printmaking. Bebout’s extensive exhibition record includes solo shows in China, Canada, New Zealand, India, and various New York venues. Her work has been featured in national and international group exhibitions, receiving acclaim at institutions such as The Print Center in Philadelphia, the Sonoma Museum of Art, and the University of Hawaii. Bebout has garnered numerous grants, including the 2008 New Jersey State Council on the Arts Fellowship Award in Printmaking and the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation for the Arts. She has also received residency grants from the Canadian and Belgian governments and was a Fulbright Senior Research Scholar in India. Bebout’s innovative collaborations, such as the the recent animated video “The Four Elements,” showcase her mastery in blending traditional printmaking with digital animation, earning her a nomination as a Semi-Finalist for the New York Animation Film Awards.
