This year’s World Traffic Safety Symposium competition saw two Product Design students claim top spots. Victor Eftomoski ’21 and Breana Perez ’20 took home awards for Second and Fourth place, respectively.
Held in conjunction with the New York International Auto Show, the topic of the 2019 World Traffic Safety Symposium was the enhancement of the safety of vulnerable road users. Attendees and competitors discussed theories and concepts surrounding the protection of pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorcyclists through behavioral modification, with an eye toward innovative vehicle and roadway technologies.
GHSA Executive Director Jonathan Adkins participated in a panel highlighting the persistent challenges of longstanding traffic safety issues.

Product Design sophomores were also able to take advantage of exclusive early access to the auto show floor. Experiencing Press and Industry Day firsthand, they watched live product reveals and spent time assessing and evaluating new concept cars with their instructors. Product Design Program Coordinator Dr. Feigler and Adjunct Professor Michael Lyden discuss automotive surfacing with sophomores in preparation for coursework focusing on Transportation Design.
