The House of Montclair
FADM Juried Fashion Show
Posted in: Announcements
The House of Montclair, the highly anticipated FADM Juried Fashion Show, makes its triumphant return to celebrate the talents of both creators and scholars from various fashion design studio courses (ARTX 422, 322, 226, and 120), as well as independent designers. This event will feature students from all levels who have meticulously designed and crafted their garments under the guidance of esteemed professors such as Professor Chae, Professor Cuffee, Professor Harriman, Professor Snyder-Gallagher, and Professor Castillo. Notably, Professor Castillo is also spearheading the production of the event alongside her ARTX400 Fashion Show Promotion course this semester.
This year’s annual fashion show will once again be a collaborative effort with the School of Communications and Media, featuring a live-streamed presentation. The ARTX400 Fashion Show Promotion Class has come together to orchestrate and promote this significant event. Through this collaboration, students learn about the intricate world of event planning, drawing insights from the rich history of fashion shows to inform contemporary methodologies. Their project entails the meticulous organization and execution of a live fashion showcase, with a focus on documenting the proceedings in various digital formats. Guided by Professor Helen Castillo, the team comprises talented students including Francesca Luongo, Abby Brock, Maria Amokrane, Fatima Kimil, Julie Halma, Nicholas Lin, Kimberly Paredes, Purity Sendik, Pamela Torres, and Jaselin Xiloj. This diverse group encompasses students from fashion design, merchandising, and marketing backgrounds, all of whom are poised to be deeply influenced by their involvement in producing this year’s Fashion Design and Merchandising programs’ fashion showcase. Drawing inspiration from the elegance of high-end couture showcased at Paris Fashion Week, they have developed a compelling concept and theme, complemented by a detailed action plan, ensuring an unforgettable experience for all involved.
FADM extends invitations to three esteemed judges for the event, each bringing unique expertise to the table. Melinda DiMauro, a renowned New York-based fashion photographer with an extensive portfolio spanning international publications and advertising, will lend her discerning eye to the judging panel. Joining her are Raena Loper, a former Fashion Studies alumna with seven years of editorial experience, and Madison Perez, a technical fashion designer and stylist who also graduated from the Fashion Studies program. Together, they will evaluate student submissions and choose recipients for design scholarships. Additionally, FADM will take the opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate students who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievements.
