Awards to Support Anthropology Student Field Research

The Anthropology Department is pleased to announce the availability of grants of up to $3500 for field experiences from the Antoinette C. Bigel Fund. These are available for Anthropology majors, Anthropology minors, and Archaeology minors at Montclair State University, and can be applied to help fund field schools, unpaid internships, or an original independent research project.

There are two application options. Please use the Field School Application Form If you are applying for funding to support your attendance at a formal academic field school or unpaid internship program.  In addition to sharing your field school application essay and budget request, you will need to provide web link and program contact for the field school as well as the name of a full time MSU Anthropology faculty member as a reference.

Please use the Independent Research Application Form if you are applying for funding to support a project you have designed on your own. You will need to draft a research proposal and answer questions about human subject research as well as submit a budget and the name of a full time MSU Anthropology faculty member as a reference.

Additional qualifications are outlined in the FAQ. We encourage all qualified applicants to submit a proposal for original research that will enhance their experience at Montclair State University.
