Leadership-level Donors Thanked During Presidents Club Reception
Posted in: Alumni News and Events
On February 8, members of the President’s Club, Montclair State University’s leadership giving society, gathered for the inaugural President’s Club Reception as a special thank you for and in recognition of their support of Montclair State. This was the first time the University has held a gathering of this kind.
The Presidents Club, whose members give $1,000 or annually, recognizes alumni, parents and friends who demonstrate their strong commitment to Montclair State University and its mission of academic excellence.
It is made up of supporters who believe in the power of higher education to change the world. Through their contributions, members lead the Montclair State community in establishing a culture of giving that has a profound impact on students.
“I have been a proud College of the Arts Advisory Board member for over 30 years. I have seen the programs and campus improve over the years,” says Bunny Jenkins. “I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of this wonderful University.” She adds that Montclair State’s continued growth and the fact that it attracts students from all walks of life is what motivated her to support the University.
President Susan A. Cole welcomed members and extended thanks for their continued commitment to the University’s mission, as it allows to provide access to exceptional educational opportunities to thousands of deserving students.
The event, which was held in the George Segal Gallery, featured an exhibition celebrating the career of Klaus Schnitzer, long-time professor of photography. The exhibit features the photographs of Schnitzer alongside the work of over 50 of his former students, who are now engaged in their own professional activities. The exhibition was followed by a performance by the Shanghai Quartet in the Kasser Theater. Since 2002, the acclaimed Shanghai Quartet has served on the John J. Cali School of Music faculty as Quartet-in-Residence.
For many who attended, the evening was an opportunity to reflect on their time as students and the impact that they have made through their generous contributions.
“When I look back, Montclair State University has meant everything to my life. I was prepared for a lifetime teaching career,” says Duane Perrelli ’73. “To give back and hopefully help someone with their dreams motivates me to happily give to my alma mater.”
Attendees enjoyed the company of fellow President’s Club members, who shared their love and support for the University.
“We all have the opportunity to support students who struggle financially while they are trying to gain a quality education,” says Judy Graef ’66. “I support a scholarship for students who would not have been able to graduate because of financial difficulties. Their letters of thanks inspire me to continue.”
By joining The President’s Club, and by renewing your membership each year, supporters can make a powerful, lasting statement about the value of investing in Montclair State. A generous gift brings membership in the President’s Club and can change the trajectory of a student’s life by putting a rigorous, challenging education within reach, regardless of financial circumstances.
