Red Hawks Gather in NYC to Network

Alumni gathered to network at New York Beer Company on December 3. Located conveniently in New York City, the networking event was a great opportunity for graduates to come together and build their network, meet fellow graduates and enjoy an evening out in NYC.
Many members of the Recent Alumni Network (RAN) Committee were on hand including Ameet Barot ’05, Ian Honauer ’10, Jesse Schwartzman ’11, Vanessa Adames ’11 and Melissa DeFeo ’06. Committee members networked and shared the many ways to get involved with fellow graduates.
“These events in NYC are highly anticipated events. You never know who you are going to meet – alumni turn out from all different programs and classes,” says DeFeo. “I always come away with new perspectives, ideas and professional contacts.”
Recent alumni from the MBA program attended the event in addition to alumni looking to break into new industries in New York City. Graduates of the 1970’s were in attendance, with alumni as recent as 2015 as well. Scott Post ’80 and David Trundle ’78 had not seen each other in over thirty years and decided to use this opportunity to reconnect.
Sweetheart couple Edgardo Alfaro ’10 and Stephanie Godenich Alfaro ’11 attended the event with a group of friends. Many attendees came out for their first-ever alumni event and were happy to have Montclair State represented in New York City.
Opportunities to network are available through events throughout the year, as well as online. Upcoming events include Montclair State Alumni Night with the New Jersey Devils in Newark, happy hours in Morristown and Clifton, and on campus opportunities including the annual spring wine tasting.
