Many digital events are being offered including career webinars and virtual career fairs, online lectures and discussions, and recorded talks and workshops. From weekly discussions with musical guests from the John J. Cali School of Music to recordings of meditation sessions, there are many digital opportunities available to you.

John J. Cali School of Music – Masterful Musings

The John J. Cali School of Music is hosting weekly discussions titled “Masterful Musings – Inspirational Conversations in the Cali Choral Community.” Musical guests come together to discuss various topics including “My Journey to the Podium,” “The Art of Craft” and “Living Your Truth.”

“In the spirit of lifelong learning, we’re tapping into professional connections that will give our students and alumni valuable insights from a wide range of guests,” says Heather J. Buchanan, professor of music and director of choral activities. “Now more than ever, the capacity to cultivate, pivot and to be multi-skilled is extremely important for musicians.”

School of Communication and Media Director’s Chat

Keith Strudler, director of the School of Communication and Media, is hosting weekly discussions which is open to students, alumni and friends.The sessions provide school updates, address emerging concerns, and include inspirational guests to help students navigate the current climate and prepare for the future.

Online Mindfulness Meditation Sessions

The Office of Health Promotion, in collaboration with Wellness at Sprague, is providing virtual Mindfulness Meditation sessions to the Montclair State community. Kerry Rasp has been facilitating weekly meditation sessions at the Health Promotion Drop In Center for over a decade. Recordings of the sessions are available to alumni.

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences – Virtual Philosophy for Lunch

Virtual Philosophy for Lunch is a weekly event where students, professors and guests discuss a few great passages of philosophy. Recent sessions have focused on free speech, the gun debate, and Aristotle on friendship.

“In creating Philosophy for Lunch, we wanted a weekly event that set up a context for everyone to actually do philosophy,” says Tiger Roholt, chairperson of the philosophy department. “Each session is grounded on a carefully crafted, short handout which is shared on Zoom.”

The College of Science and Mathematics – Sustainability Seminar Series

The PhD program in Environmental Science and Management is pleased to invite the Montclair community to virtual sustainability presentations. Upcoming virtual events will feature subject matter experts including Dr. Cassandra Thiel, assistant professor at New York University, and Dr. Philip Orton, research associate professor of ocean engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology.

Feliciano School of Business Podcast – The Business Edge

The Business Edge is a podcast brought to you by the Feliciano School of Business at Montclair State University. Each episode explores an emerging business trend featuring discussion by a credible subject matter expert. Experts include world-class faculty, successful alumni and business leaders. Each discussion is open and honest to ensure the listeners gain a business edge. The latest episodes include “The Impact of the Coronavirus on the Cruise Industry,” “What Impact Will the $2 Trillion Stimulus Package Have on The U.S. Economy?” and “Stock Market Reaction to the Coronavirus.”

Fulbright U.S. Student ProgramVirtual Information Sessions

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers research, study, and English teaching assistant opportunities in over 140 countries to recent graduates and graduate students. The Office of International Engagement at Montclair State will be hosting virtual Zoom information sessions for students and alumni. Learn how you can receive a grant to teach English!
