Join us at our first Alumni BBQ at Homecoming 2019!

Homecoming at Montclair State University is one of the biggest events of the year. This year is no exception. On Saturday, October 19, the Homecoming festivities will include the first-ever Alumni BBQ. We invite you to come back to campus and celebrate your alma mater with former classmates as you reminisce about your school days.

Start your day at the Alumni Tent where you can check in and learn about all the different activities happening throughout the day. After checking in, make sure head over to the Campus Carnival to enjoy carnival rides, face painting, balloon art, games, music, food, photo booth and bounce houses.

“Montclair State has been an important part of my life for the past 12 years,” says Michelle Shanahan ’11, who looks forward to Homecoming every year. “I’m excited to have the opportunity to share my enthusiasm for the University at important events, especially Homecoming, in hopes that my love for the University can contribute to the same kind of positive experience that I once had as a student for our new and current Red Hawks.”

Join fellow graduates for the signature alumni event of the day. Enjoy a BBQ lunch, craft beer, wine, music, games, fun for the kids and more! The highly anticipated event will take place on the Feliciano School of Business quad featuring two alumni-owned breweries: Two Ton Brewing and Ghost Hawk Brewing Company. A live performance from Jersey’s own Hoi Polloi band is set to fill the atmosphere with music for everyone to enjoy.

“Homecoming is a great time to come back to campus to see what’s new and join in the excitement of this annual tradition. Join us as we come together to celebrate our Montclair State community,” says Jeanne Marano, assistant vice president of Annual Giving and Alumni Engagement. “We hope to see you at the Alumni BBQ. We are looking forward to hearing about your time on campus and the ways that you would like to stay connected.”

At this signature event, you’ll also have a chance to chat with University leadership and hear a brief update on Montclair State’s recent accomplishments and exciting future plans.

There will also be other specific events available throughout the day for alumni to enjoy. Did you know that we have a full suite of Food Science and Nutrition Labs? Stop by for a tour, student demonstration and tasting of handcrafted chocolate bark infused with spiced orange and hazelnut.

Looking forward to the football game? Make sure to head over to Sprague Field to cheer the Red Hawks on to victory as they take on Christopher Newport University. The half-time festivities will include selections from the Student Showcase.

As we end the day, make sure to join us for a tailgate with a view! Celebrate school spirit as we get ready for the evening games from the top floor of the Red Hawk Parking Deck. Cheer the Red Hawks on to victory as Field Hockey takes on TCNJ at 6 p.m. and Men’s Soccer takes on Stockton University at 7 p.m. Enjoy food, beer and wine concessions with a view of both fields from the top level of the Red Hawk Parking Deck.
