As our fiscal year comes to a close, we wanted to take a moment to thank you for your support. Your generosity directly benefits our students and the entire campus community by providing the resources needed for us to offer the best education possible in today’s ever changing world. We greatly appreciate your dedication and commitment to the University and we look forward to your continued support.
Here are some highlights from the past year!
Giving Tuesday
Montclair State University participated in our first-ever Giving Tuesday on December 1, 2015. Over 80 donors stepped forward and made gifts for a combined impact of over $10,000 in support of Montclair State University. Thank you to those of you that were inspired to make gifts in support of our mission. Generous donors like you serve as a powerful reminder of the impact Montclair State alumni, students, parents and friends have when we come together to make a difference.
“We hope to make Giving Tuesday an annual tradition at Montclair State,” says Jeanne Marano, Assistant Vice President for Annual Giving and Alumni Engagement. “We knew that Giving Tuesday was a great way to celebrate the generosity of our donors, and we are thrilled with the positive response we received.”
Red Hawk Day of Thanks
As part of our annual participation in Student Engagement and Philanthropy Day, Montclair State University joined nearly 100 educational institutions in this worldwide effort to increase student understanding of philanthropy and to grow donor support on campuses. On February 25, 1,124 students participated in our third annual Red Hawk Day of Thanks. Our students gained a better understanding that each and every gift – regardless of its size – sends a strong and convincing message about the loyal and dedicated support provided to Montclair State University.
108 for Montclair State
On April 21, Montclair State participated in its first-ever Day of Giving, 108 for Montclair State! Together, we raised over $12,470 from 350 alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff, and friends of the University—an amazing show of support! Because you came together as part of the Montclair State community, all gifts added up to big change! Thank you for your continued support as we work to build an exciting hub of cultural and intellectual activity that enriches our students, our community and our state.
Count Me In 2016
Over 400 donors came together to raise over $7,000 as part of the Class of 2016 Emergency Scholarship Fund, which has already helped four seniors finish their studies at Montclair State. The Emergency Scholarship Fund allows students who have fallen upon difficult financial circumstances to receive assistance in order to continue their education at Montclair State. Donations to this fun help to make a difference in the lives and experiences of Red Hawks for generations to come.
What’s next for this year?
On-Campus Food Pantry Campaign
Our campaign for the newly established Red Hawk Pantry is underway, and we’ve set our goal – to raise $10,000 before the fall semester kicks off! A survey of nearly 200 students at Montclair State revealed that many of our students suffer from food insecurity, or know someone that does. Since its opening in April, the food pantry has received many generous donations, and now we need to make sure that the food pantry can become self-sustaining and continue serving the needs of our students.
“We are happy to partner with Student Development and Campus Life to ensure that pantry can be self-sustaining and serve the needs of our students,” says Nick Bellucci, Director of Annual Giving.
