Homecoming at Montclair State University is one of the biggest events of the year. This year is no exception and Homecoming is a great occasion for alumni to return to campus. On Saturday, October 22, the Homecoming festivities will include the Alumni Tailgate and Campus Carnival – where alumni, students and families can enjoy food, carnival games and rides – alumni get-togethers, and of course, the Homecoming football game, where the Red Hawks will face off against The College of New Jersey Lions.
Kicking off the festivities Saturday morning will be the Family Pancake Breakfast for first-year students and their families, which, due to its popularity, has expanded to three breakfasts this year.
Alumni are encouraged to start the day at the Alumni Welcome Tent where you can learn about everything happening throughout the day. Check in to get your Montclair State alumni gift, view information from Admissions and the Sprague Library Archives, grab a snack, speak to Alumni Relations representatives and learn more about benefits and services available to you.
Then, join the fun at the Alumni Tailgate and Campus Carnival! Enjoy food, beer concession booths, photo booths, carnival games, a petting zoo and more before the big game. Take the kids to the Kiddie Zone for face painting, balloon artists, carnival rides, and more. Take a walk down our street fair and learn about volunteer opportunities with the Admissions Alumni Recruitment Team or meet with representatives from The Graduate School.
Other activities include get-togethers for Greek Life, Bonner alumni and the School of Communication and Media, among others. The popular Alumni Beer Garden will be open for all alumni 21 and older, and don’t forget to take a guided campus tour to see how the University has grown and see the brand-new Feliciano School of Business building and the Center for Environmental and Life Sciences.
In addition to the Homecoming football game, other athletic events include the annual Homecoming Meet for swimming and diving, a women’s soccer game vs. Rutgers-Newark and field hockey will face York College of Pennsylvania. Go Red Hawks!
Many other events and activities are being planned so be sure to save the date, October 22, for Homecoming 2016 – we hope to see you here!
