The Office of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving would like you to meet STAT – Students Today Alumni Tomorrow – our student alumni council. STAT is a group of current students who serve as ambassadors to their fellow students by promoting school spirit and student engagement and help to create a culture of philanthropy. Members of the council help to create meaningful events and activities for students, and also have the opportunity to network with alumni.

As members of STAT, students have access to alumni networking events and activities and are given the opportunity to hear from alumni and other key campus individuals. Speakers at meetings this past semester include Chris Fitzpatrick ’04, Chair of the Recent Alumni Network (RAN) Committee and Talent Acquisition Manager at Enterprise Rent-A-Car; Krystal Woolston ’07, ’10 MA, Assistant Director of Service Learning and Community Engagement; and Adam Mayer ’00 MA, Director of Career Counseling at Montclair State.  Each speaker focused on a topic that the council felt was important for them to learn about – from networking and the importance of the alumni network to volunteering their time to service learning and basics of the job search.

Earlier this month, members of STAT and RAN joined together to collect and donate nearly 100 pounds of food to the Community FoodBank of NJ. Members of both organizations also volunteered their time packing boxes of food to be sent to disaster relief areas.

“Having the opportunity to give back to the local community was a great thing, but what made it even better is that I had the opportunity to spend time with my fellow students and meet alumni of the university, all while giving back. It was great to see that their connection to Montclair State is still going strong,” says Sophia Hudzick ’16, a member of STAT.

Events hosted by STAT also include Snacks During Finals, a Welcome Back Breakfast and Red Hawk Day of Thanks, where students are educated about the impact that alumni giving has on the university and have the chance to say thank you. Members also receive exclusive invitations to alumni events including the recent Red Hawk Networking Gathering in NYC and the upcoming NJ Devils Game and Alumni Gathering.

If you are interested in getting involved with the Recent Alumni Network or STAT by speaking at a meeting or hosting a program, please contact Stacy Albanese, Assistant Director of Alumni Relations, at 973-655-5465 or albaneses@mail.montclair.edu.
