The Special Education programs offered in the Department of Teaching and Learning at Montclair State University are designed for certified teachers who want to develop a comprehensive understanding of special education. This includes knowledge about the field of special education and the relationship of special education to the family, other disciplines and the community. The underlying philosophy of our programs is that teachers who have appropriate training in special education will be able to enhance the quality of life for children with disabilities, their families and ultimately their communities.
