Physical Education prepares students to work with children and young adults in a variety of educational and community settings. Students who complete any of the concentrations in this program will have a broad background in the theories and applications of physical education. Graduates will be well-positioned to apply for graduate studies in related fields or obtain a range of education and fitness oriented professional positions.

Undergraduate Programs
BS in Physical Education, Physical Activity in Educational Settings Concentration
The concentration in Physical Activity in Educational Settings contains all elements of the Teacher Certification program, without the teacher education sequence. The concentration in Physical Activity in Educational Settings provides students with a core of physical education and health courses and required general education courses.
BS in Physical Education with Teacher Certification in Health and Physical Education (Preschool-Grade 12)
The Bachelor of Science in Physical Education with teacher certification prepares the student to teach health and physical education in the public schools. The program provides strong scientific and practical applications to working with children in a developmental and instructional program in both health and physical education.
BS in Physical Education (Combined BS/MAT with Teacher Certification in Health and Physical Education and Teacher of Students with Disabilities)
The Dual Degree Dual Certification program is an accelerated program that leads to teacher certification in Health and Physical Education, teacher certification in Teacher of Students with Disabilities, a baccalaureate degree and a master’s degree.

MS in Exercise Science and Sport Science, Sport Administration and Coaching Concentration
The concentration in Sports Administration and Coaching is designed to develop and enhance competencies necessary for coaching of athletics in a public school setting or in higher education, administration of athletic programs at a secondary or higher education level, and management in a community or professional sport organization.

Health and Physical Education, Instructional Certification: Teacher Certification in Health and Physical Education (Preschool-Grade 12)
Students with a baccalaureate degree who are interested in teaching may pursue the Post-baccalaureate program for initial teacher certification. Additional undergraduate coursework in the certification content area may be required to meet State and University certification standards.
