Undergraduate Programs
BA in English
English majors will interpret and analyze literary texts from a minimum of three different genres: poetry, film and fiction while they cultivate their professional writing skills.
BA in English (Combined BA/MA)
The first half of this combined BA/MA program allows students to complete both the BA in English and the MA in English in 5 years.
BA in English with Teacher Certification in English (Preschool-Grade 12)
This program combines the required courses for the BA in English with those required for Teacher Certification in English (P-12). To meet the approved program for certification in English, coursework is required in Health for Teacher Education, Speech for Teacher Education, and Professional Sequence Requirements.
BA in English with Teacher Certification in Elementary School Teacher in Grades K-6
This program combines the required courses for the BA in English with those required for Teacher Certification in Elementary Education (K-6). To meet the approved program for certification in English, coursework is required in Health for Teacher Education, Mathematics, and Professional Sequence Requirements.

The Dual Degree/Dual Certification program is an accelerated program that leads to Teacher Certification in English (P-12), Teacher Certification in Teacher of Students with Disabilities, a baccalaureate degree (BA), and a master’s Degree (MAT).

Minor in English
The English minor covers the basic tenets of analyzing and interpreting contemporary literature. Students will take one required course in the Pursuits of English combined with five elective courses that are relevant to the minor, covering subjects as varied as Major Film Genres, Toni Morrison and Contemporary Poetry.
Graduate Programs
MA in English
In the master’s program, students may choose course work in British Literature, American Literature, International Literature or Writing Studies to complement the required core courses and electives.

English, Instructional Certification: Teacher Certification in English (Preschool-Grade 12)
The English content requirements for this program are comprised of courses in Critical Theory, British Literature, American Literature, Writing Study, Genre Study, Sociocultural Lenses, Language Study and Teaching Methods. Students must also meet requirements for Teacher Certification.
MAT with Teacher Certification in English (P-12) and Teacher of Students with Disabilities
The dual certification program leads to Teacher Certification in English (P-12), Certification in Teaching Students with Disabilities, and a master’s degree (MAT).
