Bio

Dr. Ronald Strauss is the Senior Associate Dean, Feliciano School of Business, Montclair State University, NJ, USA and a Full Professor in the Department of Accounting and Finance. Dr. Strauss holds a Ph.D. from Rutgers University and earned his BS and MS in Accounting from Binghamton University. He joined the Feliciano School of Business in 2011 and has served as Chair of the Accounting and Finance Department. His primary research interests involve ethics of business, finance and accounting, executive compensation, and disclosures and governance on a global basis with a particular emphasis on decoding the ethical content of financial disclosures. In addition to research articles published in peer-reviewed academic journals Dr. Strauss co-authored <i>Wall Street Values: Business and Ethics and the Financial Crisis of 2008</i> published by Cambridge University Press. Prior to entering academia Dr. Strauss enjoyed a private sector career of over 30 years in the financial industry including ten years in Asia in a variety of leadership positions with Merrill Lynch, primarily in Japan. His private sector career began as a CPA with KPMG in the NY financial institutions group.

  • The case of Carlos Ghosn. This paper analyzes, from the perspective of ethical leadership, the demise of Carlos Ghosn, The former CEO of Nissan
  • Financial Advisor Misconduct - Are private settlements in the public interest? An Ethical analysis. This article analyzes the well publicized case where a JP Morgan broker was fired for excessive and unauthorized trading. However, the nature of allowable private settlements prevents the public, through FINRA, from benefiting from the necessary transparency to protect the public interest.
