Dr. Talida State is an Associate Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning. She holds a Ph.D. in Special Education from Lehigh University and is a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Currently, she serves as the Graduate Program Coordinator for the BA/MAT (content area), M.Ed. in Special Education, and Teacher of Students with Disabilities certification (content area) programs. Dr. State specializes in teaching courses focused on evidence-based assessment and intervention practices aimed at enhancing outcomes for all students, with a specific emphasis on students with academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
Dr. State is a member of premier professional organizations such as Council for Exceptional Children and Association for Positive Behavior Supports, and she is a regular presenter at national and international conferences. She serves on the board of editors for the Journal of Positive Behavior Interventions, Journal of Behavioral Education, and Journal of School Mental Health.
Specialization
Dr. State's research and practice concentrate on reducing the research-to-practice gap in schools, with a goal to promote effective practices that empower educators to support all students. Her research interests primarily revolve around advancing the implementation and sustainability of multi-tiered systems of support frameworks, such as MTSS, RTI, and SWPBIS. Currently, her projects center on enhancing educator wellness as a mechanism to foster improved implementation and sustainability of evidence-based practices in schools.
