Profile
Michael Robbins received his doctorate from the University of Chicago in 2011. Professor Robbins’s third book of poems, WALKMAN, was published by Penguin Random House in 2021; the title poem was chosen for THE BEST AMERICAN POETRY 2018. He is also the author of the bestselling poetry collections ALIEN VS. PREDATOR and THE SECOND SEX, both published by Penguin. His poems have appeared in several prestigious journals, including THE NEW YORKER, THE PARIS REVIEW, POETRY, HARPER'S, and THE NATION. His critical essays and reviews have appeared in HARPER'S, LONDON REVIEW OF BOOKS, BOOKFORUM, THE NATION, and several other publications. Professor Robbins's collection of essays, EQUIPMENT FOR LIVING: ON POETRY AND POP MUSIC, was published by Simon & Schuster in July 2017. He is also the editor of a collection of Margaret Cavendish’s poems published by New York Review Books. He teaches creative writing and English at Montclair State University and lives with the best cat in the world.
