Profile

Professor Helal Mohiuddin, visiting professor, received a PhD in cultural anthropology from the University of Manitoba, Canada. His research and teaching interests lie in qualitative research on livelihood development and human resilience. They include cross-disciplinary studies in globalization, gender dimensions of labor relations, occupational health, community development, family well-being and safety net, refuge and statelessness, diaspora and multiculturalism. He taught interdisciplinary social science courses at the University of Chittagong, University of Dhaka, ASA University, and North South University in Bangladesh; University of Manitoba, University of Winnipeg, and Menno Simons College of the Canadian Mennonite University in Canada. Dr. Mohiuddin also served in government positions with the Province of Manitoba in Canada. His current areas of research interest are mental health, adolescence, aging, diversity and inclusion, decolonization, and human-AI interaction.

Specialization

Gender dimensions of globalization-driven livelihood strategies, women sweatshop workers, resilience and resistance, community-based and community-led development, justice-equity-diversity-inclusion, and refuge and statelessness (especially the Rohingya crisis).
