Charles Anthony Burks is an Award-winning Actor/Writer/Comedian/Associate Professor. He received his MFA in Acting Columbia University and a BA in Theatre from The University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va.
Acting Credits include The Bomb-itty of Errors The West End of London (Ambassador’s Theatre) and Edinburgh Theatre Festival (Best Ensemble Acting). Othello Remix on Off Broadway at The Westside Theatre. Television Credits include Limitless (CBS), That Damn Michael Ché (HBO Max), The Chris Rock Show (HBO), Sopranos (HBO), Hack (CBS), and Celebrity Deathmatch (MTV). Films include Get Rich or Die Tryin’ (Columbia Pictures), A Place Beyond The Pines, Theresa Is A Mother (Cannes Film Festival), and Balk (BAM Film Festival).
Writing Credits include The Dave Chappelle Show (Season 1), Rockefeller and NEA Grant Recipient for Lyrics and Composing a Theatreworks USA Hip-Hop Musical, To Catch A Fox: A Hip Hop Adaptation of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, OMG a Cyberbullying Story with Emmy Award Winner Christopher Jackson and The Golden Tales of Hip Hop (National Black Theatre Festival).
Directing Credits include Animal Farm: The Musical at Tribeca Performing Arts (NYC), Broke-ology by Nathan Jackson at The B Street Theatre in Sacramento Ca, Confessions… at The National Black Theatre in Harlem New York, and The Golden Tales of Hip Hop at North Carolina Black Repertory Theatre.
He is also the creator and Artistic Director of Enigma Acting Conservatory (est. 2010) that trains and coach actors from ages 9- Professional Adults. He currently resides in New Jersey with his wife and children.
