Immerse Yourself

Faith and Belief Community Program

Providing support and resources for students of all faiths and spiritual beliefs, this program encourages interfaith dialogue, understanding and respect across different perspectives. Additionally, prayer and meditation rooms are available for use and foot washing stations on the first-floor of the Student Center.

First Generation Initiatives

Montclair State University’s First-Generation Initiatives provide support services, resources and community to First-Generation College Students (FGS or First-Gen) and their family members. A First-Gen is considered to be the first in their immediate family to go to college, or the first in their immediate family to complete a bachelor’s degree. Here at Montclair, approximately 48% of incoming students identify as First-Gen.

Veteran & Military Affiliated Program

The Veteran and Military Resource Office provides current Military Affiliated students with the tools they need to succeed. Veterans, current service members and dependents using veteran education benefits are considered Military Affiliated students. Their proactive approach to the educational process and helps students connect with the necessary resources, as well as other Military Affiliated students.

  • Affinity Circle: A welcoming space for students to connect, share experiences, and build friendships in a supportive environment while exploring relationships, and community in the context of sexuality.
  • Beyond Labels: A weekly discussion and support space for students who want a more meaningful understanding of relationships, love, intimacy and their own value systems.
  • First to Finish: First-Generation College Student Conversations: A biweekly support space for first-generation college students navigating their academic journey, offering guidance, mentorship, and community for students who are the first in their families to pursue higher education.
  • Men’s Conversations: Building Connections & Growth: A space for all men to build community, discuss personal growth, and navigate life’s challenges in a relaxed, supportive setting.
  • Women’s Conversations: Empowerment and Connection: A dedicated space for students to engage in meaningful discussions about personal, academic, and professional experiences. This group provides an opportunity for mentorship, peer support, and open dialogue on issues impacting students, fostering a strong sense of community and shared growth.

Available Services

The Office of Student Belonging also is home to our campus food pantry and professional closet, both free and available to all students.
