Faculty, professional staff and librarians whose titles are included within the State Colleges Unit are represented by the Council of New Jersey College Locals NJSFT–AFT, AFL-CIO. Links to the agreement with the State are provided by the University to all new employees. Information regarding guidelines and procedures for appointment, evaluation, retention and tenure, grievances, promotional procedures, qualification for rank and election of department chairpersons are included in the State Agreement. Local Procedures in implementing certain provisions of the State Agreement are in the Local Selected Procedures Agreement between the University and Local 1904 of the AFT.
