KAVERY KAUL, filmmaker presenting THE BENGALI
Award-winning director Kavery Kaul’s films reframe who “we” are and who tells that story. With a lively, refreshingly nuanced approach, her documentaries illuminate the complex human themes at the heart of belonging in the world of today.
Born in India and brought up in the US, Kavery’s cultural background is unbounded. In films like Cuban Canvas, Back Walking Forward, and Long Way from Home as well as in her highly-acclaimed TEDx Talk, she points to the importance of stories that connect people.
Kavery’s films have been shown in theaters, on television, and in all media worldwide. They have been featured at Telluride, DOC NYC, FESPACO, India, London, Rotterdam, and Sydney Festivals; at the Kennedy Center (DC), National Museum of Women in the Arts (DC), Metropolitan Museum of Art (NY), Cleveland Museum, and High Museum (Atlanta).
