Poetry Reading by Eiléan Nà Chuilleanáin
A Spring 2017 Programs Sponsored by the Marie Frazee-Baldassarre Professorship
In May 2016 Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin was named Ireland Professor of Poetry, an honor that is the equivalent of poet laureate. She is one of the most distinguished of contemporary Irish poets. Her poems are famously enigmatic and mysterious, but they are a great pleasure to read and interpret because of their focus on the material, the tactile, the visible, and the fleshly.
Her books include The Boys of Blue Hill, The Sun-fish, The Girl who married the Reindeer, The Brazen Serpent, The Magdalene Sermon, and many others. She has also edited five academic books on various subjects and translated poetry from Romanian.
She has read at Montclair State University before.
