Director Chuck Schultz Presents: WHEN MY SLEEPING DRAGON WOKE
Throughout his film and storytelling career, Chuck Schultz has sought out stories of everyday people doing extraordinary things. “A Day at a Time” shares a candid portrayal of parents raising twin girls with cerebral palsy in New York City. “The Rural Studio” chronicles architect Samuel Mockbee and his students’ work, building homes and community spaces for the needy in Alabama’s Black Belt region. “5 Days in July” revisits the 1967 Riot/Rebellion in Newark, New Jersey, juxtaposing never-before-seen Black citizens’ interviews with archival newsreel footage. “The Last Crop” explores an aging farm couple’s struggle to ensure their small farm’s future in California’s Central Valley. “When My Sleeping Dragon Woke” shares veteran actor Sharon Washington’s journey into her past to become a first-time playwright to fully tell her family’s story.
