Undergraduate Programs
BS in Chemistry
The Major in Chemistry combines coursework in Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics with laboratory work and a required research component. Graduates of this program find employment in industry, matriculate into doctoral or Master’s programs or become high school teachers.
BS in Chemistry (Combined BS/MAT with Teacher Certification in Chemistry (Preschool-Grade 12) and Teacher of Students with Disabilities)
The Bachelor’s/MAT Dual-Certification Inclusive Education Program provides students with the opportunity to receive both a Bachelor’s and Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree with teacher certification in both general education and special education.
BS in Chemistry (Combined BS/MS)
A minimum of 140 credits of coursework is required for the combined BS/MS degree; 108 credits from the undergraduate program and 32 credits from the graduate program. Students who complete the program will be awarded their BS degree at the end of the fourth year and the MS degree at the end of five years. Graduates have matriculated into Ph.D. programs or have found professional employment in industry.
BS in Chemistry with Teacher Certification in Chemistry (Preschool-Grade 12)
Students majoring in chemistry have two teacher certification options to choose from – Physical Science or Chemistry – and should consult with an advisor to determine which certification program they wish to complete. Students who wish to pursue P-12 teacher certification in Chemistry must apply to and be admitted to the Teacher Education Program.
BS in Chemistry, Business Concentration
This concentration is designed for students with an interest in the business aspects of the (bio)chemical and pharmaceutical industry, such as technical and chemical sales, management, logistics, and marketing. Students will receive a strong foundation in chemistry and learn the fundamentals of business preparing them for entry-level positions in the chemical industry and related fields.
Minor in Chemistry
The minor in Chemistry is a twenty-three credit program with required coursework in General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and more.
Graduate Programs
MS in Chemistry
The courses offered include advanced courses in all major areas of Chemistry and Biochemistry, and include a number of highly specialized instrumentation courses as well as individual research opportunities. Graduates have matriculated into PhD programs or have found professional employment in industry.
